More about Dayton CCSVI

Dayton Interventional Radiology is the first and only full service interventional practice in the Dayton, Ohio area. We specialize in diagnosis and treatment of back pain, leg pain, and uterine fibroids, but we also provide over 200 other minimally-invasive procedures to treat a range of health issues. Our mission is to provide these procedures in a comprehensive clinical setting that is convenient, comfortable, and professional. Many interventional radiologists are technically skilled at performing certain procedures, but few are dedicated to providing complete clinical service.

DIR is now evaluating patients to receive treatment for CCSVI (Chronic Cerebrospinal Venous Insufficiency).

What is CCSVI? This is a narrowing of the neck and chest veins draining the brain and upper spinal cord which may contribute to the progression of MS. Studies linking MS and CCSVI are inconclusive. Some studies have suggested a link while others have not. In addition, the criteria used to diagnose CCSVI has not been adequately established.

What are the risks? Overall the procedure is considered safe. We were participating in a IRB approved study that is closely monitored for any adverse events. This study is currently temporarily not enrolling patients because of its IDE (Investigational Device Exemption) status that is currently in negotiation with the FDA.

**We have been inspected by the FDA and given the "green light" to perform this procedure at DIR**
