Dubuque Battle Rap League Official Rules.

General rules:
There are three areas in which you may participate; Battle. Performance. Cypher.
Sign up for one, or all three.
All participants must e-mail request to TheleagueDBQ@gmail.com

All requests must be sent one week prior to the event date. If show roster is full, request will roll over to next league show.

Battle Rules:
Battles will be one on one and based on the number of participants, either follow the bracket formula or round robin formula.

Bracket battles: Brackets/matchups will be selected by the Host. Single elimination. Winner takes all. Brackets/opponents will be announced at the event.

Time and Rounds.
60 secs per person, two rounds per battle. Judges will decide a winner or a 3rd round tie breaker. Individual battlers may always chose to rhyme with or without a beat, and recite it freestyle or written.

Round robin style:
(only for use when an odd # of battlers presents itself)Every man for himself. 60 seconds per round/per battler. One weakest link is chosen, and eliminated.

Judges:
Judges will consist of two selected members, and crowd participation for the third judge.

Prizes:
Cash compensation varies per event($50-$250) and prizes from sponsors.

Cypher Rules:
Open sign ups for 20-30 min of non stop hot beats for all participants to recite to, on stage.

Beats will be selected by DJ, and rotated.
Explicit Language is allowed
Open mic style atmosphere

Performance Rules:
We will have slots for up to four(4) performers. for just $10 you will have your name on the promo fyler and be allowed to perform a 20 minute set on the Venue stage. For out of town participants, fee is waved.

Performers are allowed to bring merchandise.(T-shirts, cd's, etc.)

All music must be given in proper format to DJ prior to, or at the start of the show.(9pm)

Flash Drive or CD is okay. MP3 format preferred. NO WMA FILES. Playing music off of cellular devices is okay as well, but must be notified prior to show date.
