Named After First Settler of the Plattsburgh Area deFredenburgh Hall was dedicated on March 13, 1970, in honor of Count Charles deFredenburgh, who was the first European settler in the area. He was the founder of a settlement called Freburg which occupied the sight of present day Plattsburgh.


FacilitiesThe first floor houses the residence director's office, the mailroom, and pay telephones. There is also a lounge, with television, vending machines, a ping-pong table, and a kitchenette area. In the lower level there is a study lounge and a laundry room which is fully equipped with washers and dryers. Even numbered floors in deFredenburgh Hall each have their own floor lounge, with a television.

Adjacent to deFredenburgh Hall are Clinton and Algonquin Dining Halls. deFredenburgh is also relatively close to the outdoor recreational facilities, which include six tennis courts, and is near one of the largest on-campus parking lots. Another attractive feature of deFredenburgh Hall is its proximity to Sibley Hall, one of the academic facilities on campus.
