Del Mar Foundation

Founded in 1982, the mission of the Del Mar Foundation is to promote civic pride and cohesiveness, acquire and preserve open space, improve beaches and parklands, raise and grant funds, and sponsor diverse cultural programs and community events in Del Mar. The Foundation sponsors a variety of events for all segments of the community, which include the Summer Twilight Concerts at Powerhouse Park, DMFTalks series, First Thursdays and Bluegrass and Beyond Concerts, 4th of July Parade, Easter Egg Hunt, "Spooktacular" Beach Bonfire, Annual Picnic at Powerhouse Park, Cinema By The Sea summer movie series, and a variety of programs for residents and their pets.

The Foundation also manages over $2 million in endowment funds, which provides the means to provide grants supporting a variety of causes and projects. Recipients of past grant awards include the Del Mar Lifeguards, San Dieguito Joint River Conservancy, Del Mar Community Connections, the Wounded Warrior Project, Friends of the Del Mar Library, and CERT, among others. For 2017, the Foundation is committed to award $50,000 in grants to worthy local causes.
