DePas Family Dental Care

Dr. Susan DePas was born in Dallas, Texas and moved to St. Louis, Missouri at an early age. Dr. DePas graduated as a Registered Dental Hygienist from the University of Texas - Houston Dental Branch, School of Dental Hygiene in 1978 and practiced as a hygienist in Friendswood, TX for about a year before moving back to St. Louis where she received a BA in Biology from the University of Missouri – St. Louis in 1982. Dr. DePas received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Dentistry in 1986. Dr. DePas worked as an associate dentist for one of her dental school instructors for over a year before making the commitment to serve her country in the U.S. Navy as a dental officer. Dr. DePas was commissioned as a Lieutenant and had her orientation at Officers Indoctrination School in Newport, R.I before reporting to her first duty station at Great Lakes Naval Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes, IL. After spending over 2 years there, Dr. DePas then served a 3 year tour in Hawaii serving at both Pearl Harbor and Barbers Point Naval Air Station. Her final tour was back at Great Lakes for over a year, leaving active duty in 1994. While completing her time in the Naval Reserves, she reached the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Dr. DePas began her private practice in the Fox Valley area in 1994 with her husband who is a native Wisconsinite and also served his country as a naval dentist.

While in the Navy, Dr. DePas was selected to practice exclusively in Prosthodontics (crowns, bridges, dentures) for 3 years as well as another 3 years in Oral Surgery. In Private Practice she has received advanced training in:

CAD-CAM dentistry using the E4D System that offers one visit crowns, onlays and veneers.
Micro-dentistry that preserves as much dental structure as possible when restoring teeth.
Laser Dentistry using the Biolase Waterlase laser that can be used on both hard tissue (teeth and bone) and soft tissue as well as being trained using the diode laser which is for soft tissue management and periodontal therapy.
Temporal Mandibular Disorders (TMJ) studying under Dr. Peter Dawson in St. Petersburg, FL, who is one of the leaders in TMJ understanding/diagnosing and successful treatment of the condition.

Dr. DePas continues to stay up to date on the leading techniques by attending dental continuing education courses in all phases of dentistry, including: Esthetic Dentistry, Denture Fabrication, Implant Therapy, Oral Cancer Screening and Diagnosing as well as Periodontal Therapy.
