Dexter Community Players is a non-profit group that was formed in 1981. Since then DCP has been creating amazing theater.
Anyone can try out! DCP holds open auditions for shows. We allow anybody to come and give it a shot. It allows the organization to attract new members while keeping current members.
Education has always been a strong tone in DCP shows. We know that not everyone knows everything about theater so we try to teach them all something. Prior to most auditions DCP will hold audition workshops that will help you know what to expect and how to be prepared. These workshops can help those who have auditioned many times or never. You are never too old to learn.
Most shows take place in one of two venues:
The Dexter Center for the Performing Arts (CPA) is a new space that brought a large capacity theater to the Dexter Community. It is attached to the Dexter High School.
Copeland Auditorium was the original theater in the Dexter School System. Long ago it served many functions along with that of a theater. In 1999 the space was renovated into an amazing black box and a dedicated theater space.
