More about DFCrafting Custom Woodworking

We create everything from custom signs to wooden furniture. If you can think it and it can be made out of wood, we can use our SketchUp program to design it. After working in the corporate world in Chicago for over 10 years, our shop founder, Dennis, was finally given opportunity when he met his wife, Michelle, to move to TN and pursue his passion, which is wood working. Too many times in the corporate world quality is sacrificed for quantity. We guarantee you that we will not sell anything until we are satisfied that the quality is exceptional. Dennis comes from 5 generations of woodworkers. He is the first one to take it from a hobby into an actual business. All of our products and designs are made to last generations.

We started DFCrafting as a Sole-Proprietorship in June 2015 and in January 2016, we took the company to an LLC. Dennis has chosen to devote all his time to the business rather than take on an outside job. It was a big leap of faith as the business is our main source of income, but we have a sincere desire to see our company grow to be a huge success.

Michelle handles all of our customer service and finances. She also takes care of our web-development, including keeping Etsy and our business website up to date. Aside from that, Michelle also creates the designs for our signs. Using a program called Aspire she has the ability to either take a digital image and manipulate it to provide the best quality on the machine, or she can create unique pieces directly from the program.

Keeping in the tradition of a family business, our children are also active in the business. Our youngest daughter, Emily, is in our art department. She helps with the finishing of the products. Our other two children, Ashlee and Dylan no longer live at home so they help out when they come to visit.

While we do keep some items in stock at all times, almost everything can be made custom order. Most of our items are made from pine, however we work with a supplier that has reasonable prices on hard woods such as oak, maple, birch, hickory and others. Most of my items are created with clean lines, symmetric proportions with the emphasis on the grains of wood we are working with. We use finishes that preserve the look of the wood grain and are pleasant to the touch. If there is something you are looking for, message us and we'll work with you to create the perfect custom piece.
