I have enjoyed woodworking for as long as I can remember. I started making paddles in October 2015.
My paddle shafts consist of seven pieces of a combination of different woods. I hand pick these pieces for strength, flexibility and of course looks. I use a top quality water proof glue.
I use basswood for light weight, and hard woods on the edges for protection.
For the blade, I use a combination of woods all hand picked using pieces with characteristics such as knots (where they are not a structural problem) for a great look. I use a top quality epoxy on the blades. I fiberglass the blades for strength and apply a rock guard on the tips. Then at least three coats of varnish, usually more, until I am happy with the finish.
The two piece kayak paddles have a fiber carbon ferrule with left and right 60 degree feathering.
Please forgive my English and any spelling mistakes.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
This page, as are my wood works are a work in progress.
