Differbilities Unbound

Here in Minnesota, Summer camps and programs are very popular. These camps and programs provide kids with activities and events to do that keep them busy while allowing parents the comfort of knowing their kids are staying active, meeting new people, and in good hands. Here at Differbilities Unbound, we realize that most summer camps and programs have a cutoff age of 15 because most neurotypical kids are getting their licenses at 16. However, this poses problems for many families especially those with Autism, whose kids aren’t getting their license. This is where we come in. We realize that gap between neurotypical teens and teens with autism, and want to provide everyone with the same opportunities. Therefore, we started this program in Lakeville, MN to allow the kids to continue with a summer camp/program where they will meet new friends, be mentored, and grow to be progressive Young Adults.

Kids reaching the ages of 16-24 are faced with their next big challenge in life, Adolescence. Because of the lack of camps, we realize that mentoring and learning for these children slow. However, we must not forget that they still need the proper training and teaching to help them through this stage properly. Therefore, we started a day and evening program to educate them and help them continue to progress and develop with different aspects of the adolescent stage. The different areas we focus on are building social skills and communication, sensory control, self-control, hygiene and diet, and exercising and a healthy lifestyle.

When planning our calendar, we intend to do events that incorporate and focus around those aspects. Some of the events we will be doing are: Go-karting, Kayaking, Hiking, Laser tag, Vikings Training Camp, Saints Baseball games, Cooking, Grilling, Waterparks/Beach days, Escape Rooms/Trapped Puzzle Rooms, Museums and Art institutes, Tours, Community building and volunteering, and MANY MORE ADVENTURES!!!
