DiGiacinto Italian Restaurant

She never ate anyone else's cooking, always had a glass of red wine with dinner and gave me most of her recipes. October 7, 1985:
The same day Evan Longoria was born, Sam opened his dream and named the restaurant Soup N’ Sandwich. The entire restaurant was located where our kitchen is today. For the first six months, Sam and his lunchtime waitress, Ardis Waddle, were the only employees. For the next 24 years, Sam would expand his restaurant and the menu.

One night while he was asleep, his grandmother appeared to him in a dream. She said to him, “Sam, please change the name of your restaurant from Soup N’ Sandwich to our last name, DiGiacinto, so people will know it’s Italian.” In 1997, he did that very thing, renaming the restaurant DiGiacinto, though the original Soup N’ Sandwich menu remains a part of DiGiacinto’s, and can never be forgotten.

Sam would like to thank his grandmother and all the original customers who helped build the restaurant into what it is today. “Follow your dreams and you’ll probably run into Sam DiGiacinto, and if you don’ t have any dreams, have a cheese steak.”
