More about Divine Church of Deliverance

DIVINE CHURCH OF DELIVERANCE
CHURCH HISTORY
The Divine Church of Deliverance was born out of the ministry of the Carver Street Baptist Church while fellowshipping under the pastorate of the Rev. Dr. S. J. Young. The church was founded by the Holy Spirit and entrusted to the most capable leadership of the Reverend Virginia Singleton in March 2000, after which Pastor Singleton was re-ordained into non-denomination Christian ministry by Bishop John Johnson, pastor of One Spirit in Jesus Christ Church. The founding board consisted of Pastor Virginia Singleton; Ernest Singleton, Sr.; Edward James; Beverly R. James; Lucille Windom; Angelo Jordan; Sara Jordan; Carrie Alexander-Bradford; Richard Washington; Julia Campbell; and the late Howard (Carl) Campbell.
The church was first established at 905 W. Marion Street in 2000; then moved to 783 N. Cashua Drive in 2004; then in February 2009 we moved to this current location at 550 Lawson Street, Florence, South Carolina.
Since inception, the Lord has blessed the church to ordain two deacons adding to existing deacon board, and install three more trustees. During the first river baptism there were nine candidates, and at the next there were eight candidates. Several baptisms have taken throughout the years as God continues to add to the church.
The church has lost four faithful and loyal members to death, the late Sis. Dorothy Edwards; Bro. Howard (Carl) Campbell; Sis. Shekeila Nettles; and Sis. Aza Lee McElveen. Although the church has decreased in membership, we have not decreased in our labor for the Lord. As a matter of fact, our labor has increased tremendously, but we know that only what we do for Christ will last, and not be in vain.
God has been very good to us, and has brought us forth for fourteen years through seen and unseen dangers, through toils and snares we have already come, but in no less days we will sing God’s praise than when we first begun. He established us upon the Rock, directed our path, and we have been busy being about our Father’s business every since. Our plan is to continue the work of the Lord as He strengthens us to do His will. For the Bible says that we must work while it is day for when night comes, no man can work.
Our Mission is based on the scripture: Matthew 28:19, 20 “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
Our Motto is: “If we can help somebody as we travel along, then our living shall not be in vain.”
Pray our continued strength in the Lord Jesus Christ that we will remain faithful and complete the work that He has begun in us here at the Divine Church of Deliverance.
