Dixie Quicks

Dixie Quicks opened in 1996, when Chef Rene Orduna (co-owner) decided he would never work for any other person than himself. Rob Gilmer assisted as needed. Rene lived and traveled throughout the USA; Omaha, Kansas City, Atlanta, New Orleans, San Francisco, New York City, Maryland, Maine, and Council Bluffs, Iowa. Orduna learned the business at the early age of eight by working in his family's restaurant, Howard's Charro Cafe. Dixie Quicks opened at 15th and Dodge Street in Omaha, Nebraska with 10 tables, the second location was 1915 Leavenworth Street in Omaha. A larger location which included the RNG Gallery. Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives Guy Fieri visited this location, Guy and Rene hit it off and had a great time in the kitchen together. The third, and current location of Dixie Quicks is on The 100 Block in Council Bluffs, Iowa where both the restaurant and art gallery expanded. In 2016, Rene and Rob were named, "Best Restaurateurs in Iowa" by the Iowa Restaurant Association. On November 9, 2016, Rene passed away due to kidney cancer. Dixie Quicks is carrying on Rene's love, Rene's food, and Rene's vision.
