Doodlebugs Learning Center

My name is Michele Clifton Johnson and I am the Owner/Director of Doodlebugs Learning Center. I am a mother to 5 wonderful children and recently left public education to follow a God given dream. I was a Special Education teacher who has taught every grade from Pre-K to 12th grade. I purchased the building from Fay Humphrey, who operated Playtime Nursery for 43 years. It was my deepest hearts desire that she would be able to see the final outcome of the total remodel I have done to the building. She is resting peacefully in the arms of our Father in Heaven and I am certain she does see what I have accomplished. Our visions were not the same for this business. Mrs. Fay operated as a daycare and poured her heart and soul into many, many children in Screven County. My vision is also to love the children of Screven County, and I desire to empower them with an educational foundation. Our visions may have been a little different but our hearts were perfectly synchronized when it comes to nurturing and loving your most precious gift, your children. It has been an extremely long process to prepare for Opening Day, but I do not regret any of the challenges or hard work it has taken me to see this day arrive. I promise to operate Doodlebugs Learning Center with the highest integrity and professionalism. I thank God He has chosen me to embark on this journey that began over 15 years ago in a dream. I look forward to forming lasting relationships with parents, and I count it an honor to be given the opportunity to work with your chid(ren) on a daily basis. My philosophy for education has remained the same throughout every phase of my educational career, even dating back to my college days at Georgia Southern University and it is as follows: "A teacher must FIRST touch a child's HEART BEFORE you can educate their MIND!" Children are masters at discerning those who really care, and although I care daily for 5 children, I have countless "heart kids" who call me Mama Michele. I have a genuine love for children and coupled with my educational background, teaching is my passion. THANK YOU Screven County for all of your love and support!
