Dorchester County Emergency Management Department

Emergency Management Department has three primary functions: Emergency Preparedness Division, Communication Support Division and E911 Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Division.

The Emergency Preparedenss Division is responsible for mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery from natural or man-made hazards and managing the county Emergency Operations Center during activations. This division also manages the CERT program.

The Communications Support Division is responsible for overseeing the procurement, maintenance, systems administration and technical support for the county's communications assets which includes more than 700 mobile and portable radios. This Division also provides first-line diagnostics to the E911 Dispatch Center, maintains its equipment and manages the 911 Fund.

The E911 GIS Division maintains the county's centerline data and maps, which is the basis for all county road maps as well as spatial analysis for operational planning.
