Welcome to Downtown Joplin's quaint historic district on Route 66 where you'll discover festivals, shopping, dining, art walks and fun.

The Sunshine Lamp District is an area along Main Street (Hwy 43/Rte 66) and Joplin Avenue around 1st to 10th Streets. This National Register of Historic Places district includes Boutique Row and the Pub Row Entertainmen District.

The City of Joplin chose the name for the district in honor of the town's rich history of lead and zinc mining. The miners wore hard hats with a mirrored box containing a flame so they could see underground. This contraption was called a "sunshine lamp."

This district boasts more than 20 attractions and activities for families and tourists including murals, a fountain and statue park, boutiques, architectural sights, chocolate factory tours, a make-your-own pottery store, a store where you can sip wine and paint with friends, art museum and galleries, and a Route 66 mural park with a classic car you can sit in for a memorable photo.

The district boasts hundreds of retail, commercial ansd service businesses including banks, salons, event venues, financial advisors, attorneys, unique shops, jewelers, shoe stores, florists, architects, entrepreneur centers, churches and two dozen restaurants, pubs, clubs, and bars with nightly entertainment.
