I am not an endodontic specialist, so I am often asked why I decided to dedicate my time and skill to doing root canals. Yes, I am a general dentist, who enjoys the art of endodontics. As an advantage of not being a specialist, I have accumulated a vast amount of experience in treating complex dental problems of all types. This helps in the decision making process regarding the very best treatment options for patients. Over the past 30-years of performing many of those full day reconstructive procedures, it frequently became necessary for me to perform unexpected complex endodontic procedures in a timely manner and to do so immediately. Being able to perform endodontics immediately while the patient was sedated or anesthetized was much appreciated by my patients. Furthermore, it was simply not practical to stop in the middle of a complex procedure and ask a patient to see an endodontist even if it all worked out that an endodontist could see my patient on that same day. Through that process of being prepared for the unexpected, I always admired the art, challenge, and extreme patience required to perform excellent root canal therapy. Having sold my general dental practice, and considering endodontics as my most favorite dental procedure to perform, I created a business model of helping general dentists with their patient’s endodontic needs in their own practice. Sometimes I do so the same day procedure for my doctor clients in their office to help out with the “unexpected”. My mobile endodontic model requires no additional investment from any of the offices in which I work. I increase their business revenue without increasing expense, and I create a great convenience for their patients. It’s a win-win-win!!
