Dr. Barnes completed her Master’s Degree and Ph.D. at Brigham Young University in Marriage & Family Therapy. During her graduate work, she was employed at BYU Women’s Services and Resource Center and the BYU Comprehensive Clinic where she became specialized in treating women’s issues such as body image, eating disorders, and relationship concerns. While working there, Dr. Barnes co-created a program aimed at improving self and body image. Dr. Barnes also worked as a therapist at Center for Change, one of the top eating disorder treatment centers in the world.
Dr. Barnes is currently the Director of Clinical Training for BYU’s Marriage & Family Therapy program. She loves teaching, working with families, couples, individuals, and conducting group therapy. Dr. Barnes has researched and presented on family implicit rules in eating disordered and non-eating disordered families as well as other family system dynamics related to economic distress, division of labor, parenting involvement, and marital relationships.
When not working, she loves to spend time with her husband and their son and daughter.
Lauren is an in-network provider with DMBA and EMI insurance. She accepts bishop pay and private pay as well. Cost is $100 per 45-50 minute session.
