I believe that something worth doing is worth doing well, and thus I have high standards for the work I do. I believe the quality of your writing influences how people perceive you. People will make judgments about your knowledge, intelligence, and education based on the clarity and accuracy of your writing. It is my mission to correct writing errors and to help you communicate effectively with your readers so you can make your best impression on them.

I have been working as a freelance editor and proofreader since 2005. This has allowed me to help others by putting to use my keen eye for details and errors in print; my knowledge of grammar, punctuation, spelling, and word usage; and my sensitivity to the flow and clarity of writing. Most of my clients have been Korean graduate students who are non-native English speakers, so I have become adept at interpreting Konglish. I am now actively developing my skills and knowledge as a copyeditor (I recently earned the ACES Certificate in Editing). With an MDiv and a PhD in practical theology, I have primarily edited academic writings in the fields of theological and religious studies. I can also help writers in the areas of education, psychology, literature, and history. While my own writing tends to have an academic voice, I love to read fiction for relaxation and escape.

-- Since 2005, I have been proofreading and editing academic articles, Ph.D. dissertations, Ph.D. qualifying exam papers, graduate and undergraduate school papers, résumés, and cover letters; most of my clients have been native Korean speakers.
-- Sylvan Learning Center instructor for 2 years (taught writing, reading, math, study skills, and test-taking skills for the SAT and ACT)
-- Title I math and reading tutor for 1 year (grades K-2)
-- Special education teacher for almost 1 year (grades K-6)
-- Substitute teacher for 2.5 years (all grades, all subjects)
-- 6 years of co-teaching leathercraft at 4-H Exploration Days
-- 8 years of 4-H sewing and leathercraft projects
