Our involvement in chair caning and basket weaving started with our father and grandfather, Ed Drake. He began chair caning as a hobby in the 1970's, and taught his daughters and son-in-law the art. Later in the 1980's, he and his daughters took a local basket-weaving class. Soon after, Drake Baskets was born as they made baskets for a few craft shows. When the grandkids were old enough, they would get involved as well. Through the years, our work has spanned four generations. After he passed away in 2010, his daughter, Emily, and his grandchildren continue to weave and cane chairs and share our passion with others in his memory.
