Drunken Goat Brewing Co.

My grandparents Ernest and Helen Rawlings bought this little piece of land in the early 40's. They had a little house, known as " the little red house" and two children Patricia, my mother, and Larry. Years later they began to build a "Big" house. In 1961 my grandmother passed away from cancer and building on the "big house" stopped. Eventually my grandfather re-married Loetta. They continued the ranch life and raised some of the best beef around. Grandpa passed away in June of 1997, and Grandma Lou in May of 2012.

It was always my dream to live here and finish "the big house", which sits as it was in 1961... unfinished. Tom and I now have the opportunity to make my childhood dream a reality, with our own special flair. We are starting to wade through the years of stuff filling the "big house" so that we can begin to finish the house for our family. A very long and dirty process to be sure!

Tom and I purchased seven little goats to help keep the weeds down in the pastures, and fell in love with them. Those cute little faces won us over and sparked the idea of The Drunken Goat.

While Tom and I are not interested in raising cows or hay, we would like the ranch to produce something, but what we didn't know. Several ideas have passed between us. The first idea was to grow grapes and make wine, and the name The Drunken Goat was born, however grapes are very expensive. So with the name settled.. how about brewing our own beer?
So in the spring we hope to begin planting our first crop of hops and begin brewing our first batches of beer.

Tom and I are hoping to make this little ranch our home and business and fill it with the laughter of family and friends as it was years ago.
