More about Du Bois Doula Care

My name is Brittany Du Bois, I am a Birth Arts International trained Birth and Postpartum Doula and Monitrice. I am a mom to three beautiful little ones and my labor and birth experiences are what led me into this field of work. I want to help women have the birth experience they truly want and deserve no matter what the setting is. Pregnancy, labor, and childbirth is so beautiful and sacred and it should be treated that way.

Birth Doula Care Services:
I provide three prenatal doula sessions; it is very important to feel comfortable with your doula.
During our first visit I like to really get to know my client. Visits Include but are not limited to: help designing your birth plan, discussion of choices in childbirth, comfort measures and coping methods, going over and practicing birthing positions, discussing the different stages of labor, VBAC support, risks/benefits of various choices and procedures, nutrition, practicing relaxation techniques, going over new parent/baby essentials, seeing what smells and essential oils/tinctures you’d like, help preparing hospital bag, discussion of postpartum adjustment, expectations, and preparation, and also making sure mom is ready and has everything she needs.
I will attend one prenatal visit to meet your OBGYN or Midwife, more if wanted

Unlimited phone and email contact

Labor and Delivery Care:
On call availability 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, starting at the beginning of your 36th week of pregnancy and ending
2 weeks postpartum, available and ready for whenever labor starts.

I will provide continuous labor support from the time you feel you need me to come until after the baby is born. I will come to your house to help with labor there, or meet you at the hospital. I will not leave unless you ask me to, and even then will be available by phone. During this time, I will encourage relaxation, positions changes, pain management techniques, comfort measures to aid in easing labor, and help with anything else mom is in need of.

Immediate Postpartum Care:
I usually remain with you for one or two hours after birth, to help establish breastfeeding and bonding, and infant care. I can help with proper latch techniques and other breastfeeding basics. Once you are comfortable and your family is ready for quiet time together I will leave. I know this time is very special to you as you meet your new, beautiful baby.

I will visit 24-48 hrs after your arrival home to discuss the labor experience and birth, your postpartum mood, and infant care. I will answer any questions you might have, provide breastfeeding support, and discuss options for additional support (breastfeeding, cloth diapering, baby wearing, etc.)

I will provide a second postpartum visit if needed.

Birth Doula fee; $500

As a doula, I accompany women in labor to help ensure a safe and satisfying birth experience. I draw on my knowledge and experience to provide emotional support, physical comfort and, as needed, communication with the staff to make sure that you have the information you need to make informed decisions as they arise in labor. I can provide reassurance and perspective to you and your partner, make suggestions for labor progress, and help with relaxation, massage, positioning and other techniques for comfort. I am an independent doula. As your doula, I am working for you, not your caregiver or the hospital. I am there to serve you to help you have the type of birth you have envisioned for yourself.
