Durham Tech’s Culinary Arts program explores contemporary and traditional culinary techniques, diverse ingredients, and an array of cooking and recipe theories. Students will have opportunities to experiment and test creativity and styles in the kitchen. The program also provides students the chance to earn valuable certifications, including:
• ServSafe – Students learn about foodborne illness and how to prevent it, as well as earn a nationally accredited food safety certification from the National Restaurant Association.
• ServSafe Alcohol® gives restaurant and foodservice industry managers and employees the knowledge, confidence and tools to think and react successfully and responsibly when serving beverage alcohol.
• National Career Readiness Certification (CRC) – Existing and potential job candidates will receive a credential that proves their skill level to enhance employability. This certification allows employers a more efficient way to assess work skills.
