Dwyer Funeral Home

Founded 110 years ago by Simon P. Dwyer, the original business was in a storefront on Peck’s Rd. at a time when the funeral wake was held in the family home. In 1914 the business moved to Wahconah St. and Simon was joined by his son, F. Emmett Dwyer. After the passing of Simon in 1920, Emmett moved to the present location at 776 North St. The first floor of this building was made into what would be one of the first funeral homes in Western Massachusetts, giving families the option of having a wake at the funeral home instead of the family home. Robert E. Dwyer Sr. grew up at the funeral home and became licensed in 1956 as well as Robert Dwyer Jr. who became licensed in 1992. Roger Nilan began his career with the Dwyer family in 1969.
From holding positions on various boards and committees to supporting local organizations and charities, the Staff of the Dwyer Funeral Home is extremely proud to serve the community that has made possible for over a century of Professional, dignified and caring service.
The Dwyer Funeral Home, with the addition of David Yon in 2012, has four full time licensed funeral directors as well more than 10 additional full and part time employees. The large staff ensures the each family will get the personal and caring attention that they deserve at a time when it matters most.
