East Columbia Farmers Market

In 2013, the Howard County Farmers Market Association decided to discontinue the Thursday East Columbia Library farmers market.

Three of the farmers (Orchard Country Produce, Tomatoes, Etc., and Unger’s Fruit Farm) were disappointed, since all had been attending the market for over 10 years. We decided to request permission from the Howard County local government to continue the market at the same location, but separate from the Howard County Farmers Market Association, who did not want the market to continue. After several winter months of jumping through hoops, we got the lease!

This market has been running continuously for over 25 years and is considered the oldest farmers market in Howard County! We are excited and relieved to be able to continue the tradition!

We hope that we can spread the word about the market’s continued existence so that we can guarantee it's success and longevity. Since we are a vendor-run market, we do not have the promotional budget of the HCFMA, so we have to do advertising through good old-fashioned word-of-mouth!
