Here in Charleston, more than 17% of the surrounding region currently lives at or below the Federal Poverty Line. ECCO provides serves more than 4,500 families a year in the following program areas: Basic Needs (emergency relief such as food, clothing, home furnishings, financial aid), Health Services (dental care, nurse practitioner appointments, health and wellness education, prescription assistance, counseling), and Empowerment (case management, budgeting classes and financial literacy training, GED, job readiness workshops, job coaching).
All programs and services strive to guide clients toward self-sufficiency. ECCO's ministry of "Helping Neighbors Help Themselves" attempts to improve the quality of life in our community in a compassionate way that respects the dignity and worth of every person.
