ELPD consists of 57 sworn officers, 61 non-sworn personnel including Jail Officers, PACE Officers, Cadets, Crossing Guards and additional Support Staff, two K9-equipped vehicles and four dogs, 13 marked patrol cars, two semi-marked police vehicles, 10 unmarked vehicles and four motorcycles. ELPD officers undergo extensive annual training, including 40 hours of general training. Specialized units also undergo specialty trainings geared more specifically toward their line of work. Specialized units include the Detective Bureau, Background Investigators, Special Response Team, K9 Team, School Resource Officer, Liquor Control Officer, Bike Patrol, Conflict Management/Hostage Negotiation Team, Accident Investigation Team, Crime Scene Investigators, Arson Investigators, Background investigators, Chaplains Committee, Child Safety Seat Technician, Civil Disturbance Unit, Community Emergency Response Team, Community Relations Coalition, Critical Incident Stress management team, Emergency Driving Instructors, Use of Force Team, Field Training Officers, Honor Guard, Motorcycle/ Traffic Unit and Vehicle Maintenance Officers.
