Eddie Owen Presents is the songwriter's best friend. It is a music venue, music school, and a home away from home for performing singer-songwriters and their fans. We are based in Duluth, Georgia at Red Clay Music Foundry - a 260-seat listening room that hosts the most talented musicians on the planet.

Music is a universal language that knows no boundaries. Songwriters and the stories they tell span the bridge of time with melodies and lyrics that speak to all walks of life. These artists weave magic that, nowadays, most people only experience through their play list. However, a renaissance of sorts is taking place in historic Duluth that is adding a progressive dimension to this north metro Atlanta town, drawing people from near and far. This is due in part to the live music setting engineered at Red Clay Music Foundry (aka RCMF), the songwriter’s best friend.

Historic Duluth boasts a Main Street that welcomes visitors with a comforting blend of retro charm and contemporary vibe. With the motto, ‘where everything old is renewed again,’ and a city slogan, ‘pride in old and new,’ you get the sense this community has fully embraced the concept of revitalization. And, in the midst of the tantalizing eateries, quaint shops, the lure of an open-air town green and intriguing mix of arts and entertainment venues sits a treasure – Eddie Owen Presents @ Red Clay Music Foundry.

At this independent music and songwriter venue, an eclectic group of patrons from around the region routinely gather to relish the raw musical talent on display. Founder Eddie Owen likes to say, “Life is in the song,” and he has a particular talent for spotting emerging artists. After all, he helped superstars John Mayer, the Indigo Girls and Sugarland get their starts by giving them an intimate stage to hone their craft and build a following. His rapport with the grassroots music scene and credibility in the industry is unmatched.

This music destination is a strategically significant piece of the cultural puzzle that is proving to be an economic development success for the second largest and fourth oldest municipality in Gwinnett. In his quiet and humble way, Owen has created a buzz that is reaching demographics that ordinarily would not seek out entertainment in Duluth. He gets credit for putting teeth in a vision that is turning this suburban oasis into a regional music Mecca.

As part of creating a place of music, the lower level of the Red Clay Music Foundry hosts Gwinnett School of Music’s newest location. In addition to their normal offering of private music lessons, we began offering group and ensemble classroom instruction and workshops in fall of 2014.

Eddie Owen Presents also hosts live music events outside of Red Clay Music Foundry.

SONGWRITERS OPEN MIC & THE ANNUAL SONGWRITERS OPEN MIC SHOOTOUT (Hosted by Eddie Owen):

On every second and fourth Sunday night of the month in Duluth, the next great music sensation may take the stage during Songwriters Open Mic. Eddie Owen Presents @ Red Clay Music Foundry also averages 10-25 live performances each month boasting headliners, local favorites and independent artists giving voice to a new sound.

SONGWRITERS OPEN MIC SHOOTOUT is the gathering of winners from the past year of Sunday night open mics - the players are national and local performers who will compete in a head-to-head competition. These writers of original song were chosen over the past year of Sunday night Songwriters Open Mic hootenannys. A panel of music industry judges will decide who progresses to the each round based on the following criteria: songwriting, vocal performance, playing ability, stage presence, and audience response.

Guaranteed to be one of the best nights of live music you will ever see, and chance to say you knew these folks way back when…

The winner of the Shootout will receive $1,000.

EOP Shootouts are annual events and are always scheduled for the Friday after Thanksgiving.
