The Edge-Scott Fire Protection District is located in Urbana, Illinois, minutes from the University of Illinois. We are just east of the city of Urbana, covering unincorporated areas of the city including the Edgewood and Scottswood Subdivisions. Edge-Scott Fire is staffed solely by a dedicated group of volunteer firefighters and emergency medical technicians.

Edge-Scott was founded in 1963 by Dale Hubert to provide fire protection to the communities of Edgewood and Scottswood. Since then, our first-due area has changed in size and shape, but the department's commitment to outstanding service and comprehensive training has remained unchanged. We staff two Class 'A' engines, a medium-duty rescue squad and a 2000 gallon tender. In addition to covering our own first-due locations, we provide mutual aid to the neighboring jurisdictions of Carroll, Savoy, St Joseph, and Eastern Prairie.

Firefighters at the Edge-Scott Fire Protection District dedicate a tremendous amount of time training to improve and refine their skills. Department-wide training is conducted every Monday evening, and individual crews train in the station every weeknight. Through a close working relationship with the Illinois Fire Service Institute, Edge-Scott firefighters train in live-fire evolutions monthly during the spring and summer months. Our members are required to train toward their Firefighter II certification, and the majority of our membership are licensed EMTs. Edge-Scott firefighters understand that, career or volunteer, the fire service has an unfailing duty to protect its community, and that only through constant training can we be expected to answer that call when the need arises.
