Educational Tall Ship for San Francisco

We are building a ship! It isn't often that a project like this comes along. The vessel we are building is based on a historic brigantine design of renowned Bay Area ship-builder Mathew Turner. Why is it so cool?
Building Community - The construction will be carried out by professionals as well as volunteers and students. We will also have an apprenticeship program. Our goal is to teach new skills and carry on traditional marine construction techniques.
History - Our project offers a unique opportunity to teach about the rich maritime history of the San Francisco Bay Area.
Environment - The ship will be built to meet the standards of the Living Building Challenge. Sustainable construction and a regenerative drive system will offer an opportunity to teach about the environmental stewardship on a variety of levels.
Outdoor Education - Upon completion we will operate the vessel as an educational program for our youth. By connecting youth to their natural environment we will be able to teach team-building, cooperation and respect and stewardship for the Bay's ecosystems.
