I'm a financial advisor with Edward Jones, a financial - services firm dedicated to serving the needs of individual investors. I've been with the firm since 2006.
Back in 2009 I remember visiting a local home improvement store with the intent to buy a folding table for my conference room. I noticed a 10ft table in the 6ft sku area. When I asked the gentleman wearing the company vest what the proper price for the table was, he said it was mispriced but could give me the large 10ft table for the 6ft price. I asked if he was willing to do that, what else was wrong with the table? Was the plastic in some way toxic, were the rivets in the legs poorer quality? He said "no sir, as I've said already it's just mispriced. That's all". I asked him if he could call me when the table went back to full price. He looked at me like I was a little crazy, and asked why would I want to do that. I told him that I was in the investment business, and wanted to feel what it was like to say that, since it seemed like every time I called someone with an investment idea, they told me they wanted to wait till things "got better". Well he laughed and asked for my card and said he was going to call me about his old IRA. Well the truth is, he never did call, but is sure was a great lesson and I had fun with it
