More about Egleston Square Branch of the Boston Public Library

DISTINCTIVE ASPECTS OF THE COLLECTION
The main draws of this branch are preschool and school visits and after school hang-out/homework time, and the collection reflects that use. Over half of the library’s space and materials are devoted to Children’s and Teen materials. Bright spots in the Youth Collection include school support, picture books and the folk and fairy tale section. The Teen area supports teens with extensive recreational fiction, and non-fiction books that address issues of growing up in the inner city.

The Adult section, which is in the back half of the open plan library, reflects interests and ambitions of customers. ESL, Test Prep Books, and Entrepreneurial books and computer books are very popular. For recreational materials there are large collections of Street Lit, DVDs, audio books and magazines. Spanish language materials are found in every section of the library from bilingual pre-school books to non-fiction adult materials. There are also a strong Sci-Fiction and Poetry collections.
