Rick and Theresa Mathes started as clients of The Egoscue Method over 15 years ago when they were each dealing with severe pain issues. Rick had broken his back in 5 places after a near-fatal car wreck, and Theresa was dealing with degenerative disc disease in her neck that led a surgeon to recommend fusing her entire neck. They found such powerful, transformative relief as clients they decided to go through the training to become certified Egoscue therapists. In 2003, Pete Egoscue offered them the opportunity to open the first Egoscue clinic not owned by Pete himself, and they accepted. The Egoscue Clinic of Austin opened in November of 2003 and ever since, Rick and Theresa have made it their mission to to help people get out of pain and get their lives back. The Egoscue Method works by helping people understand the core reasons why they hurt, that their bodies are not in pain because they are diseased or broken, but in the vast majority of cases they have simply lost postural balance.
