EHS Institute for Teacher Training

At Eagle Hill School, we understand that our students are blessed with multiple learning abilities and that it is our responsibility as educators to identify, celebrate, and support each student in capitalizing on his or her individual genius.

Our teachers are trained not only to provide support within a traditional classroom setting but also how to design classes around each student’s particular strengths and needs. By emphasizing individualized attention within the context of the classroom environment, one provides for the academic, social, and personal growth of each student.

In an effort to bring our vision to the urban public school districts around us, Eagle Hill began a new teacher inductions program, The EHS Institute. By working with hundreds of professional teachers in its summer institutes, EHS affects the lives of thousands of students.

Additionally another goal of the Institute to change the culture of teaching and to view the profession as a lifelong career that requires constant reflection, research and support.

Through collecting data from participants from the past 4 summers we have found that the the level of new teacher attrition of teachers that have completed the institute is far below the average public school teacher.
