Elegant Rumba Dance Company is the home of international salsa stars Nery Garcia and Giana Montoya, the winners of 2011's "Southwest Florida's Got Talent!"


Nery Garcia is credited with being one of the “World’s Best Leads” by world-renown salsa dancer “Edie, The Salsa Freak,” and is featured on her “World’s Best Leads” DVD series. He was also a featured contestant on “So You Think You Can Dance” Season 4 on FOX, and a featured dancer on MTV’s MADE, “MADE into a Salsa Dancer” episode. In 2008 he established Elegant Rumba Dance Company, which has quickly become the premier salsa dance company in SW Florida. Over 1,000 students per year learn how to dance with Elegant Rumba, and Nery’s celebrity status and extraordinary teaching technique draws people from all over the world to train with him.

Giana Montoya is one of the most dynamic performers and choreographers in the dance world. She began dancing in salsa companies across California in 2001, and at 22 years old established her own dance company, SHIVA LATINA, and pioneered a breakthrough technique for creating precise salsa dancers using her extensive dance background and Ashtanga Yoga. Giana has been winning salsa competitions since age 16 and has established herself as the consummate triple threat: Competitor, Performer, and Choreographer. In 2006, the NIKE Rockstar national campaign featured her as a dancer for Jamie King, choreographer to Madonna and Britney Spears. Like Nery, Giana’s signature training program and expertise bring dancers from all over the world to learn the SHIVA LATINA technique.

Together, Nery and Giana are one of the most versatile and sought-after dance couples today, garnering them world-wide notoriety. Combining Nery’s smooth and intricate social dance moves which have made him a Youtube sensation watched and emulated by millions, his elegant style, and enviable spins, with Giana’s incredible flexibility, technique, body movement, and stage presence; this partnership is a force to be reckoned with. Within nine months of partnering together in 2010, Nery and Giana debuted three cutting-edge routines that are quickly earning them the reputation of creating hot and innovative choreographies.
