How We Became
Church History


In 1958 God called Bro. Grady Gordon Sr. into the ministry and he reluctantly answered the call that many knew was upon his life. At that time he was conducting prayer meetings and assisting with ministerial duties at Whistler COGIC, where he was a faithful member with his wife Sis. Geneva Gordon and family. In 1962 Mother Laura Wilson asked Elder Gordon Sr. to come to Mobile Terrace and speak in a tent meeting that was held in her backyard. After the revival Deacon Charlie Taylor asked Elder Gordon Sr. to establish a church in Mobile Terrace area. The first location was a small building at Eleventh Street and Cody Rd. After a 19 night revival broke out many souls were blessed by the anointed preaching and teaching of the Word. During this time thirty-nine souls were baptized. As the congregation grew, Pastor Gordon Sr. and the congregation decided to purchase land and build about one and a half blocks from Cody rd, the building was completed in 1964 and enlarged in 1967, and 1973. In 2004 under the leadership of Elder Grady Gordon Jr. the vision of the late Elder Grady Gordon Sr., Missionary Geneva Gordon, and the congregation was in motion. The new church finally broke ground in 2006. Today we presently have two edifice. The former church which now serves as our fellowship hall, and our new beautiful sanctuary. The Eleventh St. COGIC is a testimony of what faith in God can produce. Faith without works is dead. No matter what the enemy has determined, we know that God is able to turn it around
