More about Elgin Flea Market Days

Elgin Flea Market Days (formerly Elgin Market Days) is an event which provides a beautiful park setting for vendors selling collectibles, antiques, and other found items from estates, barns, garages and parts unknown.

Probably one of the longest running events in Elgin, the Elgin Flea Market Days event is growing with more vendors and buyers finding their way to Elgin Memorial Park at the corner of Hwy. 95 N and Main Street (Loop 109) in Elgin, TX. With plenty of parking, buyers are able to park at no charge and walk in.

Elgin Flea Market Days continues to begin the year with February’s first Saturday. The event extends through December, opening the first Saturday of each month at 7 AM and closing at 5 PM. There is a minimal charge of $10 collected at the Hwy. 95 N gate.

With large shade trees, vendors can readily find space to set up tables for their wares. At this time, there is no space limitation for vendors due to the size of the park. With restroom facilities, electricity and water, the park is amenable to both buyers and vendors.

Buyers enjoy the family atmosphere of the event, visiting neighbors and bartering with vendors. There are a variety of items sold, including household decorative items, vintage dishes and paintings, furniture, electronic items, garden equipment and decorations, plants, ethnic foods and clothing. It is safe to say there is truly something for everyone who takes the time to set aside a few hours the first Saturday of each month for casual shopping.

A portion of Market Days profits is donated to worthy local and area non-profit organizations that graciously benefit our community.

Please note that no animals may be sold per city ordinance. Because this is a family event, vendors will be asked to remove any inappropriate displays or items.

ELGIN
FLEA MARKET DAYS POLICIES

Thank you for inquiring about Elgin Flea Market Days. This event takes place in Elgin, Texas the first Saturday of the month, February – December. Below are the basic policies and general information for being a vendor in the park. Hopefully this will clarify any questions you may have.

• The park gate on Hwy. 95 opens at 7 AM. The vendor fee of $10 will be collected at the gate. Vendors then drive in, choose their spot and set up. At this time, there is no space limit; however, as the event continues to grow this may change. We ask that all vehicles are driven slowly so as not to create dust for other vendors and their sale items.
• The Pavilion is not available as the City of Elgin takes reservations for other activities. However, if a vendor wants to use the Pavilion, and there is no other reservation, it may be used for a fee of $20 which the City charges the park coordinator.
• Only vendor vehicles may remain in the park, preferably parked behind their display. Buyers are to park in a parking lot and walk in.
• LOCAL or near-by churches, animal rescue groups and other non-profit organizations that benefit the community are not charged a fee for their space. We do this as a community service and are happy to be able to accommodate any who have a fund-raiser. However, we are now requesting that non-profits call ahead and reserve a space. This is not intended to discourage non-profits to participate; rather it is simply an attempt to limit the number that come on the same Saturday. In this way we are able to meet our financial obligations and still offer non-profits a way to sell their goods.
• All items for sale should be in good taste as this is a family-oriented event. Anything inappropriate will be removed.
• Absolutely NO ANIMALS MAY BE SOLD on city property per City Ordinance #2004-10-19-27, Chapter 2. A fine of $200-$500 may be assessed if attempt is made to sell animals. We ask that you do not bring animals to give away, as it may be difficult to prove they were not sold.
• If a vendor has an electronic item that needs to be checked for workability, electric outlets are available on most telephone poles in the park. If the electronic is audio, we request that the volume be kept low enough not to inconvenience those nearby.
• All items that do not sell and any trash need to be removed from each vendor area before the vendor leaves. Small items may be put in trash cans, but larger unsold items, furniture, electronic items, clothing, etc., must be taken with you from the park.
• As you may know, May is the month when Elgin Flea Market Days coincides with the Elgin City-Wide Garage Sale event. At this time, people often come to the park and sell their garage sale items instead of trying to sell them at home—especially if they are off the beaten path and hard for buyers to find. A win-win situation, vendors have more buyers and buyers have more options.
• Pets are welcome in the park; however, for their safety, they should be on a leash or humanely contained so that they do not stray or become injured in any way. Please consider the hot summer months and be sure they have adequate water and shade, or food, shelter and warmth in colder months.
• The city does well at trying to keep the grass mown and the restrooms relatively clean. We hope any exceptions do not inconvenience you in any way.
• The coordinator is in the park most of the time to be available should any concern arise. Of course, for any emergency such as fire, electrical wires down, overflowing bathroom fixtures, broken pipes, a medical emergency or any thing that may cause bodily harm to anyone, please call 911 for emergency assistance.
• The park gate is closed at 5 PM. A drive-through is conducted at that time to make sure no vehicle is in the park and would be locked in and to check for trash and other items left.

Thank you again for checking out Elgin Flea Market Days. It is a community within itself and so exciting that many vendors and buyers return year after year. It is our intent not only to provide a service to the community, but offer an event that allows many to participate who might otherwise be unable to participate in other community events.
