Elings Park

More than 40 years ago, our founding president Jerry Harwin had a unique vision to transform an unattractive closed landfill into a magnificent regional park. Today, Elings Park is considered the crown jewel among Santa Barbara’s recreational sites, providing high quality recreational facilities for over 260,000 visitors annually. It is also a model for other communities, demonstrating that a nonprofit foundation can maintain and operate for public benefit an extraordinary park without the use of a single taxpayer dollar. Our mission is to create a park where people of all ages, races and socioeconomics backgrounds can play together, reconnect, and thrive – a park built by the community and for the community, thanks to a non-profit/public partnership.

Elings Park spans 230 acres and includes:
• Lighted softball/baseball fields
• Multi-Use Spots Fields
• Scenic wedding/event venues
• Outdoors amphitheater
• Hiking trails and walking paths
• Mountain biking trails
• BMX race track
• Basketball hoops
• Radio-controlled car track
• Hang gliding /Paragliding training hill
• Picnic and barbecue areas
• Children’s playgrounds
• Veteran’s memorial walk

As a non-profit self-funding entity, Elings Park receives no City, State or Federal tax dollars. Our park is sustained with grants, foundation and individual contributions, corporate donations, fields and venue rentals and various fees.
