Elk Hostel

The Elk Hotel has been the center of downtown Sutton commerce for over a century. The Elk Hotel is a historical presence that drawls not only Statewide but National interest. In recent years it has served as a haven for the Arts and the WV Filmmakers Film Guild. Outdoor enthusiasts have immediate access to the Jeremiah Carpenter Mountain Bike Trail, The Sutton Lake, The Elk River and The Elk River Wildlife Management Area. Within walking distance visitors have their choice between Homestyle cuisine and one of West Virginia's finest Italian restaurants, Cafe' Cimino. You can fine the artisan in yourself at Controled Excentrics. Nighlife in Sutton is best spread between the Little Dishes Pub, La Dolce Vita, The Landmark Studio for the Arts or the Elk Theatre. Several outdoor swimming areas are open from spring until late fall. These include the Sutton Lake, Bee Run Recreational Area and the Sutton Pool. Sutton's activities are not limited to Spring and Summer. Sutton has a Fall Festival which is adult and child friendly with activities to ensure that everyone has a great time. Also this time of year the Elk Hotel becomes the Haunted Hotel with spooks and goblins galore. This is something that everyone enjoys.
