Emmanuel Seventh-day Adventist Church is the first black organized church in Mobile, Al. The original church began meeting at the YMCA in 1907. In 1951, the Dearborn Street Seventh-day Adventist Church building was erected under the leadership of Elder A.D. Shorter. The present building was started by Elder J. H. Wagner, and renamed Emmanuel Seventh-day Adventist Church in 1975. Several recent administrators includes: Pastors B, Jones, A. Sanders, J. R. Bell, F. Murray, T. L. Blevins, and M R. Ross, Jr. On August 11, 2012, Pastor Harold Goodloe, became the administrator and shepard leader of Emmanuel Seventh-day Adventist Church.
