More about English Setter Club of America

Join the beautiful nationally known English Setter Club of America Inc. The ESCA is one of the oldest and most prestigious clubs of its kind in the United States. Founded in 1905, it is rich in tradition and bird dog lore. Since its inception, it has conducted field trials that are open to all pointing breeds, professional trainers and amateurs alike. The club also sponsors the Garden State Open Shooting Dog Championship, formally the Garden State Open All-Age Championship. This championship attracts some of the finest bird dogs and professionals in the country. Also many very important guests have visited the grounds. Other clubs also lease the grounds each season to conduct annual trials and hold regional and national championships. As a result the grounds are usually well stocked with quail. The club also maintains a commercial shooting preserve. Although hunting is permitted, this is not a hunting club. Quail are never allowed to be shot including those you supply yourself.

The farm and grounds have a manager residing on the premises. The entire operation of the ESCA is situated far enough back and much of it is fenced in to be considered reasonably safe for pets off the lead. Facilities include Club House, Cafeteria, Pet Cemetery, Barn, Sheds, Kennels, and Farmhouse. The farmhouse which is the residence of the manager is the second oldest building in Burlington County. Boarding facilities for dogs are available for members at a reasonable rate.

As a member you will enjoy a protected area where you may work and exercise your field dog. The club also conducts trap shooting and many other activities including an annual picnic in late spring or early summer. All new members must be nominated by two current members in good standing and be approved by the Board of Directors.
