Erica Hayden- Reiki and CST

Hey everyone and welcome to my page!
I'm Erica, and I work with people who suffer from chronic illness and psychological issues, and I help them to integrate natural healing into their lives in order improve their overall health and wellness.

A little bit about me: A few years ago I was not taking care of myself very well. I was going to nursing school, working full time, taking care of my now husband after he got hit by a car, and helping my mom to take care of my Dad who was constantly in and out of the hospital. I was putting everyone else before me and I was not paying any attention to the fact that my body needed a rest and I needed time to recharge. A few months after the car accident my dad died and as expected, I fell into a depression. Again instead of taking time for myself, I was working tons of overtime and still taking care of my husband. This all took place in 2010.

By 2012 I started having health issues. My heart was going crazy, constantly having chest pain and my heart rate was too high, I couldn't sleep, and was having all sorts of other weird symptoms. I had to have a cardiac ablation to address two extra spots that were telling my heart to beat. I was only in the hospital overnight, and was recovering at home. A couple of days into my recovery I was still having huge amounts of pain where the catheters were inserted during the procedure, and then I noticed it was getting more difficult to do anything, and I was constantly out of breath. I figured I had maybe bronchitis or pneumonia, I went to the urgent care where the Dr. diagnosed me with sinusitis (I had to argue with him to even get him to give me an inhaler; I figured maybe my asthma was acting up). After a couple more days of taking the antibiotics and inhaler it was getting so that I couldn't even get off the couch without gasping for air. I went to the hospital where the ER doctor informed me I had multiple blood clots in both lungs and I was lucky to be alive.

I spent 3 or 4 days in the hospital before I was able to convince my Dr. I had enough training as a nurse to take care of myself at home. It was crazy hard to do anything, I couldn't even walk to the bathroom by myself. During the first couple of days at home, my Reiki teacher had told me about program that I might enjoy, and I signed up for my Priestess training that day. I was out of work for 2 months, and in those 2 months I spent much of my time doing anything I could to help my body heal faster.

I began practicing my Reiki again every day, continued with my Priestess training, started meditating, and was regularly receiving Reiki and Craniosacral therapy sessions. I was back to work within 2 months, cut my hours down to 4 days a week and worked REALLY hard to keep up with my new self-care routine.

It's now a little over 2 years since my embolisms and it was an event that truly changed my life. Without it, I wouldn't have taken the time to care for myself properly, and I also would not have seen how much of a difference it made to add holistic modalities into my treatment.

I have offered Reiki, craniosacral therapy and crystal healing to my friends, family and some of my patients. The amazing results continue and now it is my mission to make sure that these therapies be available to the people who truly need them and aren't seeing the results they want with just Western medical treatment. Don't get me wrong, I am also an LPN, and I know there are times when medications, surgical procedures, and the like are necessary. But I want people to understand that there are other options available to offer a more whole body approach to their healing.
