I started on life's journey approximately 39 years ago. My life has been filled with heartache, pain, joy, laughter, celebration, ups and downs. My heart has been broken time and time again. Today I can say that my broken heart has been mended.
I was raised in, what would be considered by national standards, poverty. I didn’t have the finer things in life, nor did I have what most would consider all of the basic “necessities” of life. As I look back, I realize that what I did have was far more valuable than anything money could buy—the love of a mother who sacrificed everything for me. Out of my humble up-bringing I gained a strength, resilience, and appreciation for hard work.
Through this gained strength, resilience and appreciation for hard work I have risen from Ed. (economically disadvantaged) to Ed. D. (Doctor of Education). I have learned from every experience I had on this journey. These lessons have been shared time and time again to motivate and encourage others to dream big and let nothing stand in the way of them accomplishing their goals. For it matters not from whence you came, you can reach the top.
