More about EvCC AMTEC

The Advanced Manufacturing Training & Education Center (AMTEC) is a 37,000 sq. ft. modern facility located in Everett, WA, that is operated by Everett Community College. AMTEC offers short, stackable certifications and certificates that build to a college degree and a pathway to family wage jobs in manufacturing industry. Construction is underway to add 17,000 additional square feet to AMTEC to house more classrooms and EvCC's new mechatronics program in fall 2016.

DEVELOPING THE MANUFACTURING PIPELINE
AMTEC connects over 1,000 students annually with more than 200 manufacturing industry employers through on-site visits, collaborative projects, and placement for internships and jobs. Industry partners have donated a full range of materials and equipment for students to experience real-world, applicable skills training.

K-12 students are exposed to STEM field opportunities by offering site tours to regional elementary, middle and high school students. Employment Facilitators are also available in high schools, and Everett Community College partners with local youth organizations.

EXPOSURE TO THE FULL MANUFACTURING LIFE CYCLE
Student in AMTEC’s composites, machining, technical design, mechatronics, welding and fabrication programs work in cross-functional teams, developing critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills in a manufacturing setting. Projects have included a UAV (drone), paddle boards, 24' rocket, radio controlled race car, manufacture of a Mars land rover in collaboration with WSU, and a full-sized ship hull.

CONNECTING GRADUATES TO JOBS
AMTEC has on-site employment facilitators who work directly with students and employers to place graduates into jobs. Employment facilitators meet individually with students to tailor their resumes, research companies and jobs, and practice interview questions. They also provide job readiness workshops in the classroom about navigating the job market, using social media to network professionally, and transitioning from college to the workplace.
