The E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University has one of the most prestigious journalism programs in the world. It is accredited by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communication and the Scripps College of Communication is a national Center of Excellence. The School of Journalism is named after Edward W. Scripps and has been recognized for its programs by multiple accrediting councils and established organizations including U.S. News & World Report and the Associated Press Managing Editors Association.
This recognition is a result of professors and alumni who have worked at major media outlets like Forbes, the Wall Street Journal and NBC; respected student organizations such as the Society of Professional Journalists, WOUB, Ohio University’s Advertising Association and the Public Relations Student Society of America that provide young professionals with real-world experience; and a curriculum that stresses ethics, critical writing and speaking abilities and expression of ideas.
