FabMo

FabMo is most inspiring organization!

Volunteers collect discontinued materials from designer showrooms, diverting them from their otherwise destination - the landfill. We make them available to all for Creative Reuse at monthly Selection Days. Started with fabrics, then wallpapers, decorator tiles, leathers, carpets, more. More than 70 tons annually, and growing.

Most delightful family of volunteers takes such delight in preparing for and serving creative communities. They make magic happen! All-volunteer, totally donor supported (501(c)(3)) in SF Bay Area advocates for, educates about, and demonstrates repurposing usable materials.

Beautiful and useful things emerge - bags, purses, pillows, quilts, table linens, garments, etc. They are frequently gifted, sold for benefit of other useful programs, or for individual initiative.

FabMo has regular presence in community at events such as MakerFaire, San Mateo County Fair, Bazaar Bizarre, EarthDay, and many more, where we have craft/activity tables for kids of all ages, takeaway free samples of exquisite designer materials, and information about FabMo and repurposing.

Workshops are developed to share techniques of creative reuse, how to make beautiful items from what would have been trash.

FabMo does no crafting, so to keep waste problem from simply becoming storage problem, our sustainability depends on what comes in as surplus going out with purpose. Clever, creative crafters fashion so many beautiful and useful things from our treasures! To celebrate our crafters and their creations, FabMo hosts annual Textile Arts Boutique at local conference center. More than 50 artists display their creations - fabricated from FabMo materials - to an appreciative community.
