Family Eye Care Associates has been serving the Central Georgia area for 30 years. We have a full time practice in Milledgeville and are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week for our patients. Our physicians diagnose, manage, and assist in the treatment of glaucoma, diabetes with ocular complications, macular degeneration, and cataracts. We offer pre-operative evaluations, surgical care, and post-operative care for cataracts, retinal procedures, LASIK/LASEK, and various laser therapies. We have state-of-the-art diagnostics such as Ocular Fundus Photography which we use to monitor and diagnose macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and other retinal diseases. Our patients with glaucoma and macular degeration are monitored through Optical Coherence Tomography, a cutting edge, non-contact imaging technology that provides high-resolution, cross-sectional views of the retina at much higher resolution than other imaging modalities such as MRI or ultrasound.

In addition to comprehensive ophthalmology and optometry, Family Eye Care Associates also offers access to specialists. The following physicians travel to our office in Milledgeville to treat and evaluate our patients.

Dr. Barry Lee's areas of surgical expertise include corneal transplantation, ocular surface and stem cell surgery, cataract and refractive surgery. Dr. Lee is one of only a few ophthalmologists in Georgia with fellowship training in corneal disorders, corneal transplantation, and modern refractive surgical procedures including LASIK, LASEK, and corrective lens surgery.

Dr. Baylin is a board certified ophthalmic surgeon with extensive training in oculofacial plastic surgery. His subspecialty training was accredited by the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. Only a few hundred plastic surgeons in the world hold this distinction. Dr. Baylin performs cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face with a focus on plastic surgery around the eyes.

Dr. d'Heurle is a fellowship-trained retina/vitreous specialist whose main office is in Atlanta across from Piedmont Hospital. He has been associated with the Family Eye Care Associates for many years. Dr. d'Heurle was born in Chicago, Illinois. He attended Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York, where he received his B.A. in biology in 1976. He received his MD from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in 1980 and then completed a flexible internship at the Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, CA, in 1981. This was followed by an ophthalmology residency which he finished in 1984. Dr. d'Heurle became a retina specialist after completing a fellowship training at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. Professional associations include the American Medical Association, the Georgia Society of Ophthalmology, and the Vitreous Society.
