The Family Health Center was created in 1969 to address: a shortage of doctors, lack of primary care access for the less fortunate population, and economic development issues.

With 13 satellite clinics and over 450 employees, we currently provide the majority of basic health care to the vulnerable population of McLennan County. In 2012: 51,366 individual patients accounted for 249,200 medical, dental, and behavioral visits.

The Family Health Center welcomes Medicaid, Medicare, and accepts most insurance plans.

The Family Health Center has the following programs available to assist our patients:

• Good Health Card: a discount only. Discounts can range from 50-80% and do not apply to outside laboratories and X-ray reading fees.
• Title V: provide initial prenatal care for women and medical and dental services for children who do not have medical coverage and do not qualify for any other assistance programs.
• Expanded Primary Health Care (EPHC): provide medical services for women who are 18-44 and Texas residents that do not have medical coverage and do not qualify for any other assistance programs.

• South 18th Street Community Clinic: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday - Friday

You will need to bring an ID of everyone in your household, proof of residency through lease or utility bill, and proof of income in order to apply for these programs. The proof of residency and proof of income must be dated within 30 days from the day that you apply.
