More about Family Promise of Ozaukee County

OUR MISSION: Provide services to help stabilize Ozaukee County homeless children and families.
The Vision of Family Promise of Ozaukee County, Inc is to assist homeless families, who find themselves at a difficult crossroad in their lives, to achieve lasting self-reliance. Our goal is to build a strong, self-sustaining interfaith hospitality network (IHN) program to fulfill our mission.

Helping homeless families achieve independence.
Providing church congregations with local service activities.
Creating initiatives that meet community needs.
Giving people of all ages meaningful volunteer opportunities.
Building public awareness of homelessness and needs of low-income people.
Family Promise Ozaukee is an interfaith network of churches in Ozaukee County who are coming together to provide homeless children and their families with shelter, basic needs and assistance as they seek permanent housing. By utilizing what already exists in the community, Family Promise is able to move more than 75% of the families it serves not just into homes, but into sustainable housing that they can keep, at the fraction of the cost of a traditional shelter. In this way, we are able to change the future for children who are homeless, as well as provide meaningful opportunities for volunteers as they house, feed, encourage, and interact with the children and families.

In response to homelessness for children and families, an interfaith hospitality network brings the faith community together to help families regain their housing, their independence, and their dignity. Family Promise of Ozaukee County is a partnership of congregations within a community helping families who are facing homelessness. It offers an opportunity for volunteers of all faiths to reduce homelessness and transform lives.

Nationally, Family Promise is currently operating in 41 states and the District of Columbia...in large cities, suburbs, and rural counties. They mobilize community resources: houses of worship for lodging, congregations for volunteers, social service agencies for assessment and referrals, and existing facilities for day programs. This strategy enables networks to help homeless families achieve lasting independence at a third of the cost of traditional shelters.
