The Farley Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (FCEI) was endowed in 2008 to help evolve engineering beyond the application of the sciences to the creation of businesses that capitalize on innovations. The gift was made by the James N. and Nancy J. Farley Foundation on behalf of McCormick almunus James Farley (EE 1950) and his wife Nancy. The center serves as a resource for students, faculty, and alumni from across the university.
The Farley Center is facilitating the next generation of interdisciplinary learning at Northwestern by integrating many different disciplines. FCEI brings together faculty from a number of schools to develop courses where students experience the entire innovation/business life cycle - from ideation to prototyping and business plan development - to create innovative curriculum like NUvention which offers courses in creating web, medical, energy, and social impact companies.
