The Minnesota Agricultural Interpretive Center (Farmamerica) was established in 1978 by the Minnesota legislature to preserve our rich agricultural heritage and look to the future. We started with a few acres and with the help of the local community, legislators and contributors built the center into what is now a 360-acre site which includes an impressive Visitor Center, a pond and prairie restoration, many external historical buildings, plus a large collection of antique tractors and farm equipment.
Our primary focus has always been education. Research shows that 90% of kids living even in rural areas today have never had a farming or agricultural experience. We want everyone to understand not only how the countryside was settled and how agriculture has developed, but also the new directions in modern agriculture. Our daily tours include a grassland prairie, 1850s farmsite, one-room schoolhouse, country church, 1930s farmsite, Blacksmith Shop & Town Hall, Agri-Hall, and more.
Open June - August for guided and self-guided tours.
Open for school field trips in May, Sept and Oct.
